How to create a winter tablescape

With colder weather and shorter days during the winter months, it can feel quite challenging to keep motivated and socialise in the ways we may usually prefer. January doesn't have to be so bad therefore instead of going out, hosting an opulent night in with close ones can tick all the boxes.

Whilst I may not be able to share a winning menu, I can share how to create a tablescape fit for this time of year and add some warmth to your dining setting.

To evoke a winter like atmosphere, I recommend incorporating seasonal foliage to your dining table. If you're a large group or have a long table, I have placed pine cones and berries on plates for additional decoration to fill any awkward looking gaps. The good thing is that this can often can be collected from the outdoors.

Centre pieces are a great way to add a focal point in-between your decorations. Here, I have used the Amber Disk Vase to hold seasonal berries in larger branches. Then, you can balance the rest of your table with tall candlesticks to add ambiance on dark nights. For a change from traditional forest greens, I have included candlestick holders in jewel like colours.

Finally, my tablescapes are not complete without Murano glasses. What I love about Murano glass is that each piece is unique and quite simply, they just look so striking. Orange Floral Murano Tumblers may not be the most obvious choice for a winter setting yet sometimes, it's fun to add an unexpected twist.

Any other type of statement glassware will work perfectly but to tie all pieces together, I recommend laying your tablescape on a muted linen tablecloth. I've used rust to balance the colour from the glassware and this also compliments in tones on the plate props.
